"That Glory may Dwell in our Land"

"I will hear what God the LORD will speak,

For he will speak peace to his people and to his saints.

But let them not turn back to folly.

Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,

That glory may dwell in our land."

Psalm 85:8,9

A wrong decision in a situation of life or death can have a catastrophic outcome, and the Psalmist shows great insight and wisdom when he says that he himself has decided to consult the Lord who is an all-wise God, on a vital subject, the subject of peace.

He says, " I will hear what God the Lord will speak." He is confident that God is the One who " will speak peace to his people and to his saints." Indeed, He is the only One who has it in His power to bring about peace, and the end result of peace: " that glory may dwell in our land."

So when God made His people a nation in their own State back in 1948 after nearly two thousand years, even after the trauma of the Holocaust! and then established their position in spite of the war that followed, that was the very time to heed the word: " Let them not turn back to folly."

When He restored the Old City of Jerusalem to them after the Six Day War in 1967, that too was of all times the vital moment for not turning " back to folly."

But we can all be our own worst enemies, and this can come about if we ignore or refuse to consult God's Word. If it's peace we want, then the Lord is the One who " will speak peace to his people."

The clock cannot be turned back of course, but the nation of Israel is presently living with and suffering under their own decisions of the past to give up this and give up that – part of the land God Himself returned to them in 1948, and the jurisdiction over the Temple Mount area He returned to them in 1967.

God is making it very clear to them and to all who revere His holy Word that He is not to be thrust aside or ignored. He will get His people's attention by drastic means if they will not turn to Him any other way. It has happened thus in past years: " When he slew them, then they sought him, and they returned and sought diligently for God. Then they remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer" (Psalm 78:34-35).

"Surely his salvation (His Yeshua) is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land."
