Editorial - It Needs To Be Said

The issue of the Palestinians and the current peace talks has been deadlocked for months. The Palestinians demand a state within the borders of the Holy Land that God specifically deeded to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac, not Ishmael, and included in the Palestinians' claim for sovereign territory within the Divinely-appointed land given to Israel is Jerusalem.

According to the highest authority, God's Word, both are NOT NEGOTIABLE.

In the first place the Palestinian Arabs chose to live in the area. They are not refugees who have been forced to flee their homelands. Indeed, they are privileged to sojourn in the Land which God calls "My Land" and "the glory of all lands". So if that option is unacceptable there are millions of hectares in adjacent Arab countries where they could create a Palestinian state in a totally compatible ethnic community.

As for Jerusalem being proposed as a capital for the said state within the borders of Israel, nothing could be more ludicrous. It is like any other nation's cheek to dictate to a sovereign State (Israel) where its capital will be WITHIN that State; it is sheer chutzpah to even expect to share that capital with the owner thereof as the Palestinians plan on doing.

The basis for such an uncompromising position is the fact that the God of Israel, the God who called it "MY LAND", who set the "borders of the nations according to the number of the people of Israel" (Deuteronomy 32:8), also declared: "For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns" (Isaiah 62:1).

God is restless and awaits the day when under the Messiah's reign the Eternal City will be "beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth... " (Psalm 48:2).

It is the only city on planet earth that God has chosen for His eternal city. "For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation: this is my resting place for ever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it" (Psalm 132:13,14).

The question may be asked, "Why is Israel required to yield even an inch of her God-given inheritance whilst the Palestinian Covenant drawn up by the PLO has never been revoked?" This covenant calls for the ultimate elimination of the State of Israel, and so the terms of the so-called Peace Agreement that calls for a Palestinian State occupying Judea and Samaria are only stage one in the process of wiping out the State of Israel.
