Editorial - Curse Or Coincidence

by Joseph Hunting

Nearly four thousand years ago God made a promise to Abraham that He would "bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee". (Genesis 12:3)

If there is any doubt whatever that God has kept His promise to Abraham a brief survey of the fate of nations and individuals that have persecuted the Jewish people should settle the matter.

The first nation to contest God on the issue was Egypt and the Jewish people still celebrate their deliverance from bondage each year after thirty-five centuries! And the Bible records the awful judgements that befell Egypt culminating with the destruction of the Egyptian army in the Red Sea.

Was it curse or coincidence that the Ammonites, Amalekites, Philistines and the Babylonians have passed into oblivion?

Is it merely a coincidence that these nations no long exist and that on the very soil where they once persecuted Israel that nation is very much in evidence today?

And in our own time was it curse or coincidence that Hitler whose dream had been to build a super-race on the graveyard of 18,000,000 Jews should die by his own hand in the flames of his own folly?

Was it curse or coincidence that Hitler's architect of genocide, Adolph Eichmann followed in the steps of Haman who perished on the gallows by the very hands of the nation he had planned to exterminate?

Surely there is no greater evidence that it is no coincidence when God fulfils His promise: "I will curse him that curseth thee".
